To continue this success, we are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated individual to assist within the Hardware department. The FPGA Engineer will be based in our Derby office and will be involved in the development and validation of a range of innovative products in the computer graphics and digital markets.

The successful applicant will report to a Hardware Team Leader, and be involved in the design and verification of FPGA designs that implement high bandwidth video systems. The role will give the satisfaction of seeing designs move smoothly into production within a world leading company in the field of computer graphics and video wall display technology.

The role would be suitable for a design engineer with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Some expertise in video interfaces or processing would be an advantage.

Skills and Experience:

  • Fluent in HDL design using either VHDL or Verilog.
  • Fluent in HDL verification using HDL testbenches, skills of using code and functional coverage is desirable.
  • An extensive knowledge FPGA architecture, operation, and tool flow using either Intel/Altera or Xilinx.
  • Experience of defining timing constraints and resolving timing closure problems using tool flow, constraints, and design changes.
  • Embedded ‘C’ programming.
  • A working knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python, Tcl)
  • A systematic and analytical approach to debug and problem solving, and an ability to communicate with the rest of the team to discuss, agree and document possible solutions.
  • Practical hardware debug and test skills.
  • A resilience to time pressure and an ability to work flexibly and proactively to deliver designs to market quickly and efficiently.
